Vleeswaren De Keyser is one of the leading Belgian private label producers of fine meats, specializing in pork, chicken, and turkey. The company also offers a wide range of meat products for further processing into convenience foods such as sandwiches, sauces, soups, hot meals, and stir-fries. Since January of this year, De Keyser has been part of Group of Butchers.
Founding and Growth in the 1960s
In the early 1960s, brothers Romain and Roland De Keyser transformed their father’s slaughterhouse into a butcher’s workshop. This turned out to be a brilliant move, marking the start of rapid growth for the company. The father and sons focused on producing fine meats, and soon De Keyser’s cooked ham became a well-known product in the surrounding region. The company expanded quickly, broadening its product range. As demand grew, the slaughterhouse soon became too small, prompting the construction of a new meat processing factory.
Expansion in the 1990s
By the early 1990s, further expansion was needed. The company built a modern reception hall, cooling rooms, a production area, cooking facilities, and a larger storage warehouse, allowing the company to continue growing and improving its production capabilities.
With its rich history of craftsmanship and continuous innovation, Vleeswaren De Keyser remains a key player in the Belgian meat products industry and is now part of Group of Butchers, further enhancing its ability to meet the growing demand for high-quality meats and convenience food products.
Slice & Dice
From these two locations in Belgium, Vleeswaren De Keyser delivers its meat products and semi-finished goods daily to retail chains, the food industry, foodservice, and wholesalers. Not only within Belgium but across Europe. The product range includes fine, pre-sliced meats in a wide variety of packaging formats.
Slice & Dice is the specialty for which De Keyser is best known. Slice refers to slices of pork, chicken, or turkey, which can be categorized into three different thicknesses: ultra-thin slices for finger food or tapas, standard slices for sandwich fillings, and thick slices for culinary aids or meal components. Dice refers to meat in cubes, strips, chunks, or grated forms. These formats are used for a variety of purposes: toppings, stir-frying, culinary aids, etc. All sizes and combinations are applied to meet specific customer needs.
